In what most Oregonians would agree is a reckless, irresponsible act, the Trump Administration has fingered a whole slew of U.S. National Monuments around the country to be “de-certified,” thereby opening them up for development, including mining. The reaction around the state has been overwhelming – Oregonians don’t want our state’s national monuments to be obliterated. And Governor Brown is going to meet with Trump’s Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke to tell him face-to-face that Oregon doesn’t want digging and gouging and river-fouling by mining or any other intrusive use and spoil these national treasures.
