Timber company sues state over allegations of deception on Elliott Forest sale
When Lone Rock Timber Management Company learned that the state of Oregon was selling the Elliott State Forest in southwest Oregon, to raise money for education funding, Lone Rock went all out in formulating a submitting a bid. And it turned out that it was the only bid the state got for the property. But along the way political and financial pressures moved the ouija piece on the game board. The state withdrew its offer to sell – opting instead to raise education support funds a different way.
Lone Rock was not pleased. So much so that it’s suing the state of Oregon for what they contend was a deception game to see how much a timber company would actually bid on the property.
