The Oregon State Legislature, only able to spend the beans they’ve been given, have kicked the bean can down the road for another two years. Critics on both sides of the aisle admit that a $8.2 billion dollar budget for education simply preserves the state’s ho-hum status quo on education funding – among the lowest levels of spending per student in the country. Others point to the fact that Oregon’s taxes on the business sector are second from the bottom among all 50 states.
