It is sad when we see one of nature’s great creatures meet its end. Last Saturday a 40-foot long whale carcass washed up on Agate Beach in north Newport. The grey male whale bore no obvious marks that would indicate cause of death. On Sunday a member of Oregon State Parks and Recreation appeared, accompanied by two pieces of construction equipment. In about 90 minutes, they had dug a large hole, rolled the carcass across the sand, into the hole and covered it.
(Pray for no serious beach erosion)
