Report of dog in distress in Alsea Bay near the mouth of the river

Report of a barking dog out in Alsea Bay – appears to be in distress. The tide is coming in. The reporting party lives in the 100 block of Alsea Bay Drive, near the mouth of the river. The dog is in the water off the peninsula, according to the reporting party.

Firefighters say they see a number of seals in the area. May not be a barking dog afterall.

Firefighter says “A black lab just came out of the water and came right up to me.” The firefighter said the lab then took off barking running down the street. Dog has a collar and tags. No Lincoln County Animal Control Officer available today.

Firefighters say the dog has run off into the Bayshore neighborhood. Firefighters are returning to stations.
