The Newport Public Library is offering the following free classes during the month of May.
· Introduction to Facebook will be taught on Friday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m. This class teaches the basics of creating a Facebook account, adding friends, posting updates and pictures, and protecting privacy.
· On Friday, May 19 at 9:00 a.m., Beginning PowerPoint will be taught. This class covers how to add text and images to slides to create a slideshow. At 10:00 a.m., Summer Reading: eBooks! Will be offered. Participants are invited to bring their own mobile devices and learn how to use Library2Go and Hoopla—free services offered by the library—to enjoy eBooks, audiobooks, and more. This class will last until 11:30.
· Introduction to Computers will be taught on Friday, May 26 at 9:00 a.m. This class covers the basics of Windows, with suggestions for how to customize your own computer.
All classes are free, and registration is required.
Library staff also offer one-on-one tutorials, for up to 60 minutes. You can call the library to “Book a Librarian” if you have questions about Microsoft software, library resources, or general computer or tablet use.
