The event was held in conjunction and with support from Oregon SOLVE, the Ports of Newport and Toledo, Dahl’s Disposal of Toledo, Englund Marine and Industrial Supply of Newport and ODFW.
Using the Port of Toledo’s Airport boat launch facility as a base camp, volunteers worked the area both on foot and from boats to reach critical areas that are not accessible from the roadways. It is estimated that the volunteers collected 3000-3500 lbs of trash during this event.
On a side note, UDM had purchased two new life rings and throw ropes to be used on the docks at the boat ramp for safety purposes. During this event, someone stole both life rings and throw ropes that had been staged at the top of the ramp so they could be easily accessed in case anyone went into the water while off loading garbage from the boats. Only 4 other boats were launched at the ramp during the time period we were there. If anyone knows who took these items, please contact the UDM group and we will accept them back with no questions asked.
U DA MAN Fishing Tournament members would like to thank all the volunteers who took part in this event, our sponsors and media outlets who assisted us in advertising.
