Pictured above are graduates of the 2016 Master Gardener Class, celebrating their year of study, hands-on-learning, and cooperative work to become Certified Master Gardeners.
The Master Gardener Trainees attended class every Tuesday from January through March, worked enthusiastically to plant and present healthy greenery for the Spring Plant and Garden Sale, completed a horticultural project in the Demonstration Gardens and provided guidance and information at the OSU Extension Master Gardener Help Desk. Hearty congratulations are in order for the 18 students, their labor and determination.
The 2017 Lincoln County Master Gardener Course, sponsored annually by Oregon State University, begins January 10. Lincoln County residents, regardless of gardening experience, are eligible to register to become certified Master Gardeners. Classes are taught by OSU horticulture faculty and professional gardeners. Participants learn how to identify plants and trees, propagate seedlings, safely manage pests and resolve gardening problems. Don’t delay! Online or in person registration is open now, and closes December 19, 2016.
The $220.00 cost for the course includes a complete text, course materials, supplies and presenters’ fees. Registration and credit card payment may be completed online (extension.oregonstate.edu/Lincoln/master_gardeners) or by visiting the OSU Extension office, 1211 SE Bay Blvd., Newport, OR.
