High Wind Watch

wxonwarning-nws-swsA High Wind Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Central Coast, which is in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday evening.

* Winds/timing: increasing out of the south to 35-40 mph with gusts to 50-60 mph late Wednesday evening through early Thanksgiving morning. Winds then decrease during the day but increase again starting late Thanksgiving afternoon to 40-45 mph with gusts 55-65 mph extending into the overnight hours. The highest winds will be near beaches and headlands.

* Impacts: winds may make travel difficult at times, and could cause some tree damage and spotty power disruptions.

A High Wind Watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
