TROOP 240 is part of a program that promotes character development, growth, adventure, and values-based leadership training. Scouting provides young men with an opportunity to try new things, provide service to their communities, build self-confidence and reinforce ethical standards. These opportunities not only help them when they are young, but also carry forward into their adult lives, improving their relationships, their work lives, their family lives and the values by which they live.
TROOP 240 is very active and enjoys lots of outdoor adventure, such as camping and hiking. Young men learn citizenship, service, public speaking and valuable leadership skills.
Would you like to support Scouting but don’t have Scouting-aged kids? TROOP 240 welcomes Committee Members throughout the community. Your volunteer service will provide essential support and guidance to the Scouts of TROOP 240. If your son or grandsons are between the ages of 11-17 and if you think Scouting is for him, visit a meeting. We meet on Mondays at 6:30 pm at the Elk’s Lodge at 45 SE Moore Rd in Newport.
