A Waldport woman who was intoxicated behind the wheel of a car she was driving that hit another car head on-on Highway 20 just east of Newport last February 27th just after midnight, has been sentenced to prison for three and a half years. Jennifer Rozewski, 32 of Waldport, had pleaded guilty earlier to the charges.
OSP troopoers say Rozewski’s Subaru sedan was headed eastbound on Highway 20 just east of Newport on February 27th when her car crossed over the center-line and hit an oncoming Nissan pickup head on. Driver of the pickup was rushed to PCH in Newport. But Joseph Dauenhauer, 52 of Newport could not be saved. He died of his injuries. Meanwhile Rozewski was also taken to PCH where she was treated for injures and later released. Law enforcement was waiting for her and transported her to the Lincoln County Jail where she was booked and jailed on charges of criminally negligent homicide and intoxicated driving which now translates to a 3.5 year prison sentence.
