Shoppers are invited to a ‘Sweet and Cozy’ sale at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital
on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 8 to 5. The Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital (SNLH) cafeteria will be transformed into a one-day “sweet and cozy” shoppers’ gala.
The public is invited to browse a selection of See’s Candies, handcrafted quilts and a variety of nutcrackers and holiday décor. All proceeds will go toward the SNLH Auxiliary to fund hospital equipment and scholarships for students pursuing a medical career.
The handcrafted quilts are created by a local woman, Bev Barcroft. According to Celeste O’Brien, the SNLH volunteer services coordinator, Barcroft began making and donating lap quilts to patients receiving ambulatory infusion therapy. This is a type of therapy where patients come to a clinic on the hospital campus to receive intravenous medications, such as antibiotics, antivirals and chemotherapy. A cozy quilt brings comfort and warmth to the patients during the treatment, O’Brien said. Barcroft also donates dozens of quilts to the Auxiliary, which sells them during this annual sale to benefit the hospital.
“Bev puts so much labor and love into creating these beautiful quilts, knowing that her efforts will bring comfort to others,” O’Brien said. “We appreciate her so much, and also those who purchase the quilts, helping to support our hospital programs.”
