Kaufman, Dunlap and Smith for Toledo City Council
Jackie Kaufman, Deanne Dunlap and Josh Smith are well qualified candidates for Toledo City Council and, together they will work well with the continuing Councilors to provide Toledo with a community-centered, forward-thinking, and fiscally responsible City Council.
All three have demonstrated their dedication to Toledo through numerous volunteer activities. They believe that the most important role of a City Councilor is to listen to and value the voices of community members and be the link between the community and the city government.
Deanne Dunlap is the owner of Gallery Briseno, on Main Street. She serves on the Boards of the Toledo Chamber of Commerce, the Toledo Downtown Association, the Oregon Coast Community Forest Association, and KYAQ 91.7 Community Radio. Whenever there is a community event or activity, she will be found working to make it successful. She is currently coordinating the Halloween on Main Street event. Deanne is interested in local issues and has attended many City Council meetings to voice her ideas and concerns. She is well informed on the activities and policies brought before the Council.
Jackie Kauffman has served on the Toledo City Council for the past 4 years and is the only incumbent running. Her experience will provide a continuity that will be vital as new Councilors and a new City Manager and Public Works Director come on board. She listens to community members and considers their concerns as she makes her decisions on the Council. Jackie has been a Toledo business owner since 2002, and is a champion for the Toledo business community.
Josh Smith is committed to improving his hometown. He graduated from Toledo High School, attended Spokane Falls Community College, and has returned to Toledo. He has worked in small business finance and retail management and operations, and is currently the manager of the gift and book shop at the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Josh understands how the City works, and the issues it is facing. He has been attending City Council meetings, and is serving as a member of both the Budget Committee and the Planning Commission for the City. He now wants to step up to be a strong advocate for the citizens of Toledo by determining and improving public policy. Josh Smith will provide the Council with the much needed voice of a young citizen who cares deeply for his community.
The ballots are out, and Toledo citizens who want their ideas and concerns to be heard will want to consider their ballots carefully and vote for Deanne Dunlap, Jackie Kauffman, and Josh Smith for City Council.
