By W John Moore, Candidate for Mayor of Yachats:
My working career has been spent primarily in lending, banking and management. After visiting Yachats over a dozen times over the last 10+ years, we were finally able to move here full time in 2015. I have served on the Yachats Finance Committee and the Parks and Commons Commissions for most of this year, and have a solid understanding of the issues facing our city government.
I managed a large staff of decision makers and support staff for HomeFed Bank in California, then started and set up a Real Estate Department for Six Rivers National Bank. I started my own business in 2002 as a government approved FHA Lender and was a leader in that field, helping hundreds of seniors to be financially better off.
I have also worked with numerous non profit organizations. I served with the Humboldt Senior Resource Center for 11 years (Board President, Board Member, and Finance Committee) – a large organization providing meals in 3 dining centers, home delivered meals, Alzheimer’s Day Care Center, and other services. I also served on the boards of the Humboldt Library Foundation, the Senior Citizens Foundation, Northern California Council of Camp Fire Boys and Girls, the Humboldt State University Alumni Association (Past President), and the Loan Committee for the Redwood Region Economic Development Corporation.
I am currently a member of the Rotary Club of Florence, and have been a Rotarian for 24 years, serving as President of the Southwest Eureka Club in 1999-2000. Prior to becoming a Rotarian, I served 7 years with Kiwanis, and was president of the Eureka club in 1994-1995.
My specialty is listening to the needs of clients and community members, and finding solutions to their problems that worked to their best advantage. These skills and background would help me as our Mayor in solving some of the challenges that we will be facing the City in the next two years, such as work force housing, ensuring an adequate clean water supply, and emergency planning.
This truly is a wonderful place to live, and I plan to work to keep it that way as your Mayor. I would appreciate your vote and your support.
W John Moore
