Hi, I’m James Scrutton, Candidate for City Council, Ward 2, Lincoln City.
I am “A local who will listen” – I enjoy listening to my neighbors about the issues we all face, and look forward to working together to find solutions, not just talk, for our shortage of affordable work force housing, our homeless children and adults, and our less than friendly business environment at the city government level. I believe after listening to numerous locals, one way we can accomplish this would be by creating incentives to attract the developers, builders and new businesses. We also need to remove the big box store ban. All of these would provide more jobs, more housing and a path for the homeless to follow so as to get into housing.
What I am not is a politician or someone already in government just moving into another government position, I’m a fellow citizen who’s become frustrated with a government that seems not to be for the people a lot of the time. My neighbors and I want a more transparent city government; one that will listen to us and get things done!!
As a retired builder/developer for over 30 years I will bring my strong skill sets in business management, home building and land development to our city council to get things done with our housing and homeless crisis. With our 7 miles of gorgeous beach, let’s make our city work.
Thank you and lets get it done!!
