“My name is Dan Souza. I’m an average guy. I’m 31 years old and a pizza chef at a local brewery. I have lived in Lincoln City since 2008.
I’m fed up with the current situation in Washington, D.C. The gridlock that seems to keep any real progress or change from ever actually happening. That frustration is what led me to become a candidate for State Senate. I am running because I believe the political deadlock needs to be broken. Nothing can be accomplished if we cannot work together. I will work along side my republican and democratic counterparts in the legislature to make the central coast (and all of Oregon) a community we can be proud to call home.
I’ve seen a number of local politicians fail over the past few elections. With failed policies and projects that only seem to waste money…taxpayers’ money. I want to address homelessness on the coast, including affordable housing, which is becoming harder and harder to find for the average working family. I want to make it easier to find a job on the coast, as well as make it easier for employers to hire new workers. I want to improve the child care situation. Education is extremely important to me. I want to address the high congestion problems on Highway 101 by proposing improvement plans that actually improve the situation rather than making the situation worse.
I want to do all these things without raising any taxes, whatsoever. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like taxes, corporate or otherwise. I’m positive that by working together with my fellow legislators we can find wasteful spending and use those funds to actually make a difference in our communities. I want the central coast to become a shining beacon that will be the envy of Oregon and I believe that I can help achieve this goal. I thank you for your consideration.
