Two Oregon members of Congress propose “Get the lead out of our nation’s schools” bill
Two Oregon members of Congress have introduced a bill in Washington to take on the latest crisis in the nation’s schools – debilitating levels of lead in drinking water found in fountains, bathrooms and school kitchens.
Oregon Congressional members Suzanne Bonamici and Earl Blumenauer said a lead crisis in Oregon and around the country requires urgent action to clean up and retrofit plumbing in schools coast to coast. They say American school buildings are aging and need immediate attention to ensure that high levels of lead are not causing lifetime learning disabilities among our young people.
