In a case that has already drawn lightning bolts of legal protest, a Linn County Circuit Court judge has strongly signaled that an effort to dramatically increase logging on state forest lands should move ahead as part of a class action lawsuit initiated by Linn County and backed by the timber industry. Perhaps taking a more political route than legal, Judge Daniel Murphy has stated, in so many words, that he’s inclined to approve the suit until somebody convinces him otherwise. And he’s already getting a lot of what he’s referring to.
