Blasting continues in the west end curve section. All blasts will take place during the night closure window. Once night closures begin, daytime flagging will no longer occur.
Travelers between Newport and Corvallis should expect increased congestion due to trucks entering and exiting the highway at both ends of the project on U.S. 20. Paving work is moving from night shift to day shift so travelers should expect an increase in truck traffic due to asphalt deliveries.
ODOT will be fog sealing U.S. 20 between milepost 24.5 and 29.3 on August 29. Travelers should expect short delays of up to 20 minutes.
Most work is taking place away from the existing U.S. 20 roadway, including the installation of a wildlife crossing culvert, as well as a large buttress for landslide mitigation.
The majority of the new alignment is still scheduled to be open to traffic by mid October.
