10:50am – Report of someone clinging to a floating tote off Seal Rock State Park, offshore 1,000 feet. The fog is in and visibilities are very limited. A Coast Guard motorlifeboat is offshore looking around.
A surf rescue operation is getting set up at Seal Rock State Park.
11:05am – Search & Rescue personnel have picked up a large tote as one might find on a fishing boat. It just came ashore on the rocks at the north end of the state park.
11:25am – Search and Rescue has launched – is out motoring around trying to find any sign of anyone floating offshore. The Coast Guard is out there with them. Search & Rescue is assigned to near-shore search, the Coast Guard is taking the outer shore area.
1:30pm – Local search and rescue is out of the water but the Coast Guard requested beach observers to help them continue the search south of Seal Rock State Park. It would likely be a body retrieval operation at this point if the victim was not wearing a wet suit.
