From Lincoln County Public Information Officer Casey Miller
When visitors come to the Lincoln County Fair August 19-21, they’re going to see some changes on the ground at the County Commons, home of the fair.
“We’ve done a variety of things to make the grounds more functional and attractive right now,” said County Commission Chair Bill Hall, who is also a member of the Fair Board. “We know it’s going to take at least a couple of years to start on our more comprehensive redevelopment, but we wanted the public and users of the grounds to be able to see some immediate results.”
The Fair Board approved the purchase of several new items, including two large tents that will be available for use at the County Commons throughout the year. New bleachers have been added to the arena, several cattle panels at the arena have been replaced, as have a number of tables and chairs.
County staff, assisted by volunteers from Young Life, 4-H, the Pacific Equestrian Club and Job Corps students have helped with installation of the new items and painted the outdoor arena, the ticket booths and flower planter boxes. The buildings were power washed and given their first coat of paint in many years. Major improvements to electrical systems and plumbing have also been completed.
