The Port of Toledo finally has all the pieces on the ground and many are being lifted into place to create one of the biggest boat lifts on the West Coast. The lift will be able to hoist vessels up to 600 tons and ferry them from the water to work stations on dry land. The Toledo Boatyard’s relatively small labor force will swell to well over one hundred workers and will accommodate all but the extremely large Alaskan fleet processor ships.
Port officials say the huge ship and boat lift should be operational within six weeks. And they’re already stacking up work orders in the front office.
