High risk grass fire 3 miles east of Waldport
9:09pm – Central Coast Fire is being joined by Seal Rock and Yachats Fire-Rescue to the scene of a high-risk grass fire three miles east of Waldport.
High risk means the fire has the potential to damage homes or outbuildings or escape into the forest.
9:14pm – The grass fire has burned about 300 feet across between the highway and the Alsea River. Unknown how close to nearest home or outbuildings.
9:19pm – Arriving units say the fire is a control burn, attended and plentiful water is at the ready. All fire units are cancelling and returning to base.
9:20pm – Firefighters say the size of the fire was far smaller than the caller to 9-1-1 estimated. The fire was only 15 x 15 feet, and again, it was only a control burn.
