Family Promise hires new leader

family promise logoFamily Promise of Lincoln County announces the hiring of Elizabeth Reyes as their new Executive Director. Reyes has been manager of the Lincoln City Diamonds by the Sea store and will start with Family Promise on July 6th.

Current Executive Director, Hanna Connett announced earlier that she would be leaving at the end of July to get married and move to California. Connett helped bring Family Promise to Lincoln County two years ago after searching for the right type of non-profit to help families who are experiencing homeless ness in the area.

“Elizabeth Reyes has energy and passion for the program”, stated Sue Anderson, President of Family Promise. “She has management experience and has worked to help others through volunteer work.” Reyes is a member of Rotary in Lincoln City and has fundraising and grant writing experience through that organization.

Anderson also said, “Being local and already knowing people and the coast will be a big advantage for Elizabeth. She can hit the road running as she takes on the position. Reyes will be training for a month with Connett before Connett leaves. The Family Promise Board members will also support Reyes as she transitions as well as training with the National Family Promise organization.”

“Having the support of a national organization is a big advantage for our program.” Stated Hanna Connett. “We also have other Family Promise programs in Oregon to reach out to during the training process. While setting up our program in Lincoln County, the Salem facility and people were very helpful and we visited other sites like Hillsboro and Eugene. Elizabeth will be doing the same visits during her training.”

Family Promise of Lincoln County is a non-profit organization that mobilizes communities, local groups, congregations and social service agencies to provide shelter, meals and help toward stable, long-term housing for families with children. The program model is unique, has proven tremendously successful and is part of a nationwide network. Family Promise is located at 5030 SE Hwy 101 in Lincoln City and can be reached at 541-614-0964 for more information.
