A 20 month old child has taken a ten foot fall onto concrete and has obviously suffered serious head injuries. Yachats Fire EMTs are on scene and have called for either REACH or LIFEGUARD medical helicopters to pick the child up at The Adobe. Weather between the valley and the coast may require LIFEGUARD out of Tillamook to shoot down the coast and pick him up and fly him to a trauma center.
Update: Medics surveyed the weather around Yachats and decided to rush the injured child to the landing pad at PCH Newport and load the child aboard whichever medical chopper can make it in there.
The child may have fallen at a nearby vacation rental. Circumstances aren’t yet clear.
The cloud cover is too thick. Both REACH and LIFEGUARD choppers have declined service. The child is aboard an ambulance headed for PCH in Newport. It is not known if they will stop there or proceed as fast as possible to a trauma center in the valley.
