The Chamber honored Hernandez at their annual hospitality training seminar and tradeshow Know Your Newport on May 18, 2016. Hernandez was nominated for the award after being selected as the February 2016 Employee of the Month by the Chamber’s Hospitality Committee. Other nominees included Phil Ewers—Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses, Marci Bidwell—Newport Steak & Seafood, Lisa Glenn—Vacasa Rentals, Musammat Nahar—Hallmark Resort, James Parrish—TCB Management, Brittney Hillman—Lincoln County Sherrif’s Office, and Tammy Flescher—Bank of the West.
Omar Hernandez was nominated for the February Employee of the Month Award by a customer of his who submitted a review of the exceptional service he received while dining at Georgie’s Beachside Grill.
“My wife and I stayed at the Hallmark Resort for an overnight getaway and decided to have dinner at Georgie’s Beachside Grill. It was very busy and our server was Omar. Despite being busy, he was friendly and had an excellent attitude. Omar’s knowledge and suggestions were very helpful and in a room full of people, his attentiveness made us feel like there were only a few people there. Dinner was excellent and Omar made the experience that much better. My wife and I truly had an amazing little getaway. We will definitely be back!” –Ben White.
Hernandez was awarded a $200 cash prize along with the honor of being Newport’s Employee of the Year. The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate each of the 2015-2016 Employee of the Month award recipients.
