A little four year old boy went missing during a family outing Sunday near Patterson State Recreation area.
Family members said they searched frantically for him, wondering how he could have wandered away without noticing it. After finding no sign of the boy, they finally called 9-1-1.
Fire and Rescue personnel as well as law enforcement converged quickly in the area, set up a search grid and a command post at Patterson. Within 20 minutes they found him. Safe and sound.
Yachats Fire Chief Frankie Petrick reminds parents that if a child goes missing, the FIRST thing you do is call 9-1-1, NOT AFTER you haven’t found him or her. Precious time is lost – time that can mean the difference between life and death.
