Newport won’t be fluoridating the water – Opponents overwhelmingly prevail at the polls…

No fluoride in Newport's water...the voters spoke loudly.

No fluoride in Newport’s water…the voters spoke loudly.

A message from the “No on Fluoride” campaign

We, at Clean Water Newport, are thrilled with the strong results on Measure 21-164.
The people have spoken: 36% for fluoridation and 64% against it.
Newport voters have won.

Our choice is to keep fluoridation chemicals out of our water, avoiding the health risks and financial waste that fluoridation represents. There are so many other ways to protect the teeth of the population, with diet, hygiene, and regular dental care without putting toxic waste chemicals in our water.

Thank you to all those who tirelessly volunteered educate the voters of Newport. Thanks so much all those who generously donated, so we had the tools we needed to get the information to the Newport voters. AND we want to thank the voters for listening, reading, understanding, and voting!

The body of scientific evidence continues to grow showing the risks associated with fluoridation. We are grateful to represent the facts now available.

Ralph Nader on The politics of Fluoridation:
“The Public Health Service, unfortunately, has locked itself into a position where it has made this statement on the record that there is absolutely no hazard to fluoridating public water supplies and the matter is closed. Now, that, of course, is immediately an unscientific approach.” – Ralph Nader, Consumer Advocate, 1971.
