Transgender students across Oregon should be able to use the bathrooms along with the names and the pronouns they want to be referred to, according to what are becoming highly controversial guidelines released Thursday by the Oregon Department of Education.
And it means that, according to the Oregon Department of Education, a transgender student can use a name not necessarily on their birth certificate and to use bathroom facilities that reflect their new gender.
And it has some parents outraged and are demanding that local school district ignore the state guidelines. So far, the school districts are holding firm with the new directives.
