From Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office:
On May 5, 2016, at approximately 06:00am the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the US Coast Guard, Station Depoe Bay they had located and recovered a clothed female body from the ocean just outside the jaws of the Depoe Bay Harbor.
Lincoln County Major Crime Team members immediately responded where detectives were able to make a positive presumptive identification of the recovered body to be missing person, Katharine “Katy” Roe of Depoe Bay. Investigators reported the condition of Katy’s body is consistent with having been in the water since the time of her disappearance and there were no obvious indications of foul play; however, the State Medical Examiner’s Office is responsible for conducting the official autopsy.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office detectives notified Katy’s family early this morning. The Roe Family and the Sheriff’s Office wish to thank the local community for their support since Katy’s disappearance.
