North Lincoln Fire, Lincoln City Police, and Pacific West Ambulance dispatched to a report of a man down on the highway in front of Sears at 1439 SW highway 101 in Lincoln City.
North Lincoln Fire duty officer arriving on scene saying there is a man in his 40s down on the highway with uncontrolled bleeding from the head. A wide debris field is present in the southbound lanes.
Southbound lanes shut down to secure the scene. The debris include turn signals, and an LCPD officer on scene says the vehicle that hit the man most likely has heavy front end damage. The man has gone unconscious. He was knocked out of his shoes, and has a massive injury to the right side of his head.
Man has been loaded into an ambulance and is being taken to North Lincoln Hospital with lights and sirens on and North Lincoln Fire personnel to aid in treatment. Ambulance personnel have requested Lifeguard Air Ambulance launch and meet them at North Lincoln Hospital to expedite transport to a facility that can provide a higher level of care. A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy has stopped a Volkswagen that is possibly involved.
Lincoln City Police Officer requesting the major crash team to the scene. The southbound lanes of the highway will be shut down for some time. The officer is saying it appears the vehicle left the roadway, hit the man, and then fled the scene.
The stopped Volkswagen was not involved. Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy on scene saying that the vehicle that hit the man will have a broken headlight. They are still working to gather a better vehicle description.
