The Newport Public Library is offering the following free classes during the month of May.
· Beginning Excel (2013) will be taught on Friday, May 6 at 9:00 a.m. This class teaches the basics of creating a spreadsheet and adding rows and columns. Intermediate Excel, which will be taught at 10:00 a.m., teaches how to balance a checkbook, use multiple worksheets, and create charts.
· Researching Genealogy with HeritageQuest will be taught on Friday, May 13 at 9:00 a.m. This class teaches how Newport Library card holders can find and download US Census Records, city directories, and other genealogy resources.
* On Friday, 20 at 9:00 a.m., “Email Basics” will be offered. The class will teach how to add attachments to email, group mail into folders, and other tasks.
* Introduction to Facebook will be taught at 10:00 a.m. This class shows how to use the popular social networking tool to communicate and keep up with friends and trends.
All classes are free, and registration is required.
Library staff also offer one-on-one tutorials, for up to 60 minutes. You can call the library to “Book a Librarian” if you have questions about Microsoft software, library resources, or general computer or tablet use.
