Agate Beach Parking lots and local streets are about to get busier and noticeably noisier as preparation of the new Agate Beach street re-alignments begin. It’ll take four months to get everything done.
Here’s the scoop from Newport City Hall:
Big River Construction has been awarded the ODOT contract for the reconstruction of NW Gilbert Way, NW Agate Way and the intersection of NW Gilbert Way and NW Woody Way. Construction will begin on Monday, April 11, and is anticipated to take approximately four months to complete.
The project will begin with grubbing, clearing and limited tree removal to accommodate the new alignments. Some limited temporary street closures may be in effect from time to time at a later date, but access to the beach and local businesses should not be affected. The City of Newport will provide media notifications should any closures be necessary.
