Toledo’s Green Dragon Herbal Clinic, a medical marijuana outlet, is gearing up to become a recreational marijuana outlet as well when the state has all of it’s regulations and rules in place on recreational sales.
Green Dragon Herbal Clinic, at 185 Main Street downtown, already offers medical marijuana to patients, most of whom suffer pain from various ailments. Owner Karen Edwards says they’ve applied to Toledo City Hall to get permission to also offer recreational marijuana when the new state regulations take effect. Temporary regulations allows medical marijuana pharmacies to sell limited quantities of recreational marijuana while the state developops new rules about recreational sales.
Edwards has a hearing coming up April 13th in front of the Toledo City Council as she seeks a conditional use permit to add recreational marijuana to her list of products. City officials say conditional use requirements usually address such things as how the operation affects other nearby businesses or residential areas, parking, signage and so on. Medical marijuana outlets selling limited quantities of recreational marijuana is expected to last through the end of the year. By then the permanent rules should be in place. She says she and her husband are long time Toledo residents and a well respected local commercial fishing family. “They know we play by the rules,” she said.
The Toledo City Planning Commission meeting is set for next Wednesday, April 13th, at Toledo City Hall starting at 7pm.
