A 2000 Volkswagen Jetta was parked and unoccupied along the South 3200 block of SW Anchor Ave. The driver of a maroon or burgundy colored Ford Explorer was traveling North on SW Anchor Ave. The Ford Explorer left the roadway and struck the Volkswagen along the shoulder of the roadway. The Volkswagen was heavily damaged and propelled approximately 50’ down the roadway into a rope fence. The driver of the Ford Explorer fled the scene at a high rate of speed prior to police arrival in the area.
Based on witness accounts and the evidence left at the scene, the Lincoln City Police Department is looking for a 1995 to 2001, maroon or burgundy Ford Explorer with extensive front passenger side damage, that includes the front passenger side headlight area.
Based on the crash scene, police are concerned about the safety and wellbeing of the occupant(s) of the vehicle. Investigators would like especially those people involved in the local area automotive parts, repair, and tow services, to contact law enforcement if a similar damaged vehicle is encountered.
The incident is currently under investigation and anyone with any information, or knowledge of the suspect driver, or suspect vehicle location is urged to call the Lincoln City Police, Sgt. Brian Eskridge at (541) 994-3636.
