Newport Fire dispatched to a report of a 20 foot by 20 foot fire between the US Coast Guard station on SW Naterlin Dr and the north jetty. One witness who is across the bay says they heard multiple explosions and saw flames whoosh up from the ground. Another witness says there is a tree on fire near the parking lot of the Coast Guard station. It is unclear if there are two separate fires.
Citizens are requested to stay clear of the area.
Only one fire. It’s a transient camp fire. Newport Fire engine crew on scene requesting a brush rig from their station to respond, no lights and no siren.
