It’s amazing what you can see by looking – then ZOOMING!
Photographer Keith Nelson has one of those super-zoom cameras that are just “knock-your-sox-off” great at grabbing shots you’d never be able to get unless you were holding ten pounds of camera and lens in your hands. Try to be steady with ten pounds stretched out. Ugh!
But Nelson shows through telephoto steps what the small and still relatively new Nikon P900 camera can do with an 83X zoom. The first photo shows the rock wall behind the Yaquina Head Natural Area Visitor’s Center. Looks like your typical rock escarpment. Not so! There is a nesting set of Peregrine Falcons waaaaay up there tending to their youngin’s. And Keith takes us up there one zoom setting at a time. Amazing little camera! It’s a little pricey $500+, but it’s pictures are priceless. You could probably look inside the craters on the moon with this little gem.
