The Newport Public Library is offering the following free computer classes in April.
·“Beginning Excel” (2013) will be taught on Friday, April 8 at 9:00 a.m. This class teaches the basics of creating a spreadsheet and adding rows and columns. “Intermediate Excel,” which will be taught at 10:00 a.m., teaches how to balance a checkbook, use multiple worksheets, and create charts.
·“Beginning Publisher” (2013) will be taught on Friday, April 15, at 9:00 a.m. This class introduces people to the basic commands to create a word processing document. “I Didn’t Know You Could Do That! – Selected Virtual Library Offerings” will be taught at 10:00 a.m. This class introduces students to online databases, ebooks, and other free information and entertainment available to Newport Library card holders.
·On Friday, April 29 at 9:00 a.m., “Finding the Right Fitness Tracker” will be offered. The class will show features of various fitness trackers to help people make informed choices. Introduction to Twitter will be taught at 10:00 a.m. This class shows how to use the popular social networking tool to communicate and keep up with friends and trends.
All classes are free, and registration is required. Library staff also offer one-on-one tutorials, for up to 60 minutes. You can call the library to “Book a Librarian” if you have questions about Microsoft software, library resources, or general computer or tablet use.
