Report of trees down across highway 18 at milepost 1.5 blocking the entire roadway. Also reported that two vehicles hit the trees on the road. No injuries. Traffic is already heavily backed up.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy on scene saying that the trees were knocked down by a 6 foot wide, 10 foot long boulder that came crashing down from a high up embankment. The boulder is off the roadway. Several small trees are across the highway, accompanied by a large tree two feet in diameter. Oregon State Police and ODOT are responding to clean up the area.
Traffic is being diverted through N North Bank Rd. ODOT is saying they have a 35 minute ETA.
Deputy says a vehicle ran over all of the flares indicating the transition to North Bank Rd from 18 on the east end. It is unknown if it was intentional. Regardless, please remember to drive slowly and safely around the area.
ODOT is on scene. One lane of travel has been cleared. Estimating 20 minutes before the highway is completely clear.
The highway is open. Traffic flow can resume as normal.
