The Yaquina River Museum of Art(YRMA), Toledo, has been awarded a grant from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund to produce a promotional DVD of the “Yaquina” Traveling Painting Exhibit in collaboration with the Toledo High School media class.
A first planning meeting with students Sparrow Houchens, Zachery Casberg, and teacher Peter Vince was held at the THS Media Center on Thursday, February 18. Also present as advisors were Michael Gibbons, Toledo artist who created the art and Robert O’Brien, retired Moderator from New York City FOX TV who will be the narrator voice on the DVD.
“Yaquina” is a 45 painting exhibit painted in the Yaquina Watershed by Michael Gibbons over a 30 year period. “Yaquina” addresses the past and current state of the Yaquina Watershed in the importance this area holds for human and wildlife and the environment and extolls the beauty of the region.
When completed sometime after the end of this school year, the DVD will be a part of the presentation to be sent to museums and art centers in the Traveling Exhibit for use as an educational tool and a major fine art exhibit.
