Michael Allen Harrison, who began playing the piano at age six, has become an acclaimed new-age musician, songwriter and pianist . He is the owner of MAH records on which he has recorded and produced over 50 of his own albums. His unique music ranges from movie scores to arrangements for piano, orchestra, ballet, jazz, fusion, pop and contemporary adult. Every year Michael performs a new composition with The Portland Festival Symphony during their summer concert series.
Michael is also the founder and president of the non-profit Snowman Foundation which has raised over 3 million dollars for music education to support school programs and community centers and to provide hundreds of musical instruments and scholarships to gifted and disadvantaged children. Funding for this program comes from the Ten Grands concert series which has been presented annually at Schnitzer Hall in Portland for the past 16 years. This event features ten concert pianists playing classical and modern pieces both simultaneously and individually. For 25 years, he has presented the ever-popular Christmas in the Old Church series.
While he is on the Coast, Michael will show his heart for children by doing some school workshops at Taft Elementary and Taft High in Lincoln City and at Neighbors for Kids in Depoe Bay on April 1. These involve performing and interacting with the students. When he has more time in a school, Michael teaches students to write their own musical compositions and perform them for the student body.
