A vehicle that was speeding through northern Lincoln County is now racing through Newport, Seal Rock and now possibly through Waldport. The speeds were so high that it turned too crazy for police to stay with it. So OSP ended the pursuit. Too much danger to the public.
There was a report that someone in Waldport who knew the chase was headed their way said he had not seen the speeding driver come through Waldport. Officers instantly focused their search north of Waldport.
Report came in from a citizen near the airport that the suspect ditched his car at the end Southwest Marine View Street. The suspect was last reported to be running toward the beach. Now spotted on the bluff south of 82nd. Described as a tall white male, blue shirt, blue jeans, button-down shirt, gray (or light colored) jacket. Unknown direction of travel on the beach. Maybe carrying a black backpack.
Sounds like the chase started out in Yamhill County with a car crash of some sort. Officers say he may be armed.
Suspect may be injured from the Yamhill County accident. Known to have a pocket knife and pepper spray.
THEY’VE GOT HIM. Officers were searching empty vacation homes when they found him.
Officers will put him in a patrol car at the end of the cul-de-sac on 97th.
Other officers have found the vehicle the man was driving. OSP is having it towed back to Yamhill County since it was involved with the accident in Yamhill County. OSP will seal it and will be used as evidence connected to the other crime scene there.
