Toledo man confuses his car with an airplane…
Newport Police say that a Toledo man headed up Fogarty from the Bay Road Saturday night and built up so much speed that by the time he got to the top of the hill his BMW sports car went completely airborne over the top of SE 1st, flew nearly 60 feet through the air, landed – then slid 250 feet more (almost a football field), went through a wooden fence and then over the top of a city street sign and then finally came to a stop in a nearby parking lot.
The phones at 9-1-1 must have rung off the hook because Newport Police were on scene rather quickly – quick enough to nab him where he landed. Kyle Edwards, 26, of Toledo, was cuffed and taken to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked for Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief and other driving offenses. His bail was set at $150,000.
