This event will benefit Lincoln County’s Homeless Education & Literacy (HELP) program.
Children, up to 13 years of age, can search for eggs throughout the Aquarium’s grounds including the popular Open Sea and Secrets of Shipwreck exhibits. This is a unique opportunity to experience one of Oregon’s top tourist attractions before public visiting hours.
Children will be separated into three age groups for maximum hunting advantage.
* Category 1: Ages up to 4 years old;
* Category 2: Ages 5-9; and
* Category 3: Ages 10-13.
Participants receive a photo with the Easter Bunny, a complimentary boxed breakfast, and a legendary Mo’s sand bucket for collecting eggs. The Egg Hunt will run from 8:00am-9:30am in designated areas at the Aquarium with doors open to the public at 10:00am. Participation in this event is limited, so egg hunters are asked to sign up early at http://bit.ly/EggHunt16 or just CLICK HERE.
Not only will this event be fun for the entire family, it also supports a vital program in Lincoln County; the Homeless Education & Literacy Project (HELP). HELP is a program of Lincoln County School District designed to help homeless students overcome barriers to school attendance and academic success and relies partially on grants and donations to operate.
The first half of the current 2015-2016 school year, the LCSD HELP Program staff has already identified 703 homeless children in Lincoln County. Last year’s total number of students identified for the 2014-2015 school year was 717; only highlighting this year’s need as almost double. There are four help centers located in Newport, Toledo, Lincoln City, and Waldport to specifically provide aid to those students. Each Center provides basic needs resources and education programs, filling the gaps in the community to meet students’ needs.
HELP centers are a stable place for students and families to get support.
Prices for this event are as follows: $15 per child up to 13 years of age for the Easter Egg Hunt only, or $20 which includes Easter Egg Hunt & day admission to the Aquarium. Accompanying guardians are free during the Egg Hunt and can purchase a $10 day admission (discounted price) to the Aquarium.
