Fishery researchers at Oregon State University have just proven what many fish biologists have theorized for a long time – that it doesn’t matter who its parents are, a young fish’s DNA will reflect whether its been raised in the wild or in a hatchery. They’re finding out that the environment is always pushing on the fish’s DNA. So the next question raised is, how should future fish hatcheries be more like wild streams rather than small deep tanks?
