Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and a Newport Police officer responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of an adult female who was trespassing on Waldport High School property, acting suspiciously and refusing to leave.
School staff members contacted the subject and determined she had no students attending the school or had any reason to be on the property. When she was asked to leave she refused. School staff contacted law enforcement and as a precaution the school was placed in lock-down.
The trespasser, later identified as Nicole Carlson, 34 years of age, of Tidewater, was spotted by a sheriff’s deputy and she again refused to leave the school property. Carlson was then taken into custody and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on the charges of Criminal Trespass and Disorderly Conduct. Her bail was set at $17,500.
The investigation is ongoing and Carlson’s reason for trespassing is not known, but mental health issues are suspected.
