The third Wednesday of every year is the deadline for parents to make sure their school children are vaccinated against a litany of diseases, including measles, mumps, polio, hepatitis A & B and other serious illnesses. But a number of non-vaccinated kids were sent home last year here in Lincoln County with instructions to their parents to get them vaccinated or produce a legally defensible reason why not.
Possible exemption reasons are posted on local school district and private school websites. A number of those exemptions were recently struck down by the Oregon state legislature.
Booster shots for students in 7th through 11th grade are also required.
