Dancing Moon Press presents two more readings from
“A COLLECTION OF BUMMER SUMMERS”
a memoir by Johnny Bargain
If success is judged by actors having fun and the audience laughing a whole lot, then the Johnny Bargain readings from his short story memoir, “A Collection of Bummer Summers,” are a triumph. Putting a performance spin on a literary event certainly ratchets up the entertainment value.
The second of three winter performances will take place on Sunday, January 24, at 2 p.m., at the Newport Public Library, 35 NW Nye Street in Newport. Admission is free. Copies of the book will be available for sale and autographing. The performance features author Johnny Bargain (an alias), emceed by Carla Perry of Dancing Moon Press, and is produced by “Johnny’s Angels.” The short stories are performed by Sarah Gayle and Hovey Grosvenor. A different selection of stories are read each time.
The final winter performance from “A Collection of Bummer Summers” will be at the Sarah Gayle Art Gallery in Toledo, 179 N Main Street, on Saturday, February 6, starting at 1 p.m. If you cannot attend now, book the date of Saturday, June 18, when the Johnny Bargain road show will be featured at the Nye Beach Writers’ Series, starting at 7 p.m.
“I’m surprised you’re alive.” – said Fred. Fred is a member of Johnny’s Yoga class.
“A Collection of Bummer Summers” is a highly entertaining compilation of true tales about the author’s hardcore life back in Rosebank, Staten Island, when he was a member of Dapper Dan’s Wacky Racers Motorcycle Club. The public, especially those with a history of Harley and Triumph motorcycle riding and racing, is encouraged to attend. The book, illustrated by Sarah Gayle, is available at Canyon Way Bookstore, Nye Beach Book House, the Newport & Toledo Public Libraries, Sarah Gayle Art Gallery in Toledo, online from Amazon, and direct from Dancing Moon Press.
