Reports say a hiker has fallen off a steep trail, above the beach at a small cove north of Roads End. North Lincoln Fire Rescue has been told it’s a male who has fallen a good ways and suffered a broken ankle. NLFR ascertaining whether it’ll be a hike in or rope rescue. Coast Guard is on standby.
Person on scene with the victim says the injury is a compound fracture and the victim is going in to shock.
NLFR personnel are on the beach searching for the victim. Very rocky. Fortunately the tide is going out. Low tide around 6:30pm.
Rescue personnel summon a Coast Guard helicopter and a NLFR rope rescue team.
NLFR command post is at the end of Roads End beach area where the sand ends and lots of rocks begin.
