The first landing of commercial crab from waters off Oregon were lifted up to the docks in Newport Monday – the crew of the F/V Pursuit doing the honors. You can see the boxes are full of big, fat delicious-to-be crabs that were eagerly bought by Bayfront Seafood Restaurant Local Ocean. Holding a typical specimen from the catch is a very happy employee of Local Ocean, Amber Morris, inspecting what her employer just bought right off the dock. And you can see by the smile on her face that there is now good eats down at the restaurant.
The crab are said to be large, packed full of meat and, quote, “feisty as hell.”
The F/V Pursuit is a small crab boat so it was a quick out and a quick back from the seas off the coast. More crab boats are expected to start mass landings of crab throughout the next few weeks.
